I use that phrase a lot, "Oh my heart!" Usually, I am referring to something that is so dear and sweet that my heart is smiling, but this time, I'm being quite literal. Seriously, my heart has been doing some odd things lately. I'm thinking, hmmmm, could this be a heart attack? No, I don't have all these tell tale signs of a heart attack. My heart just feels weird. Is it an extra beat in there? Is it racing? For those of you who are wondering what the signs in women are, I'll post them here for you.
Heart Attack Signs in Women
1.Uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain in the center of your chest. It lasts more than a few minutes, or goes away and comes back.
2.Pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach.
3.Shortness of breath with or without chest discomfort.
4.Other signs such as breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea or lightheadedness.
5.As with men, women’s most common heart attack symptom is chest pain or discomfort. But women are somewhat more likely than men to experience some of the other common symptoms, particularly shortness of breath, nausea/vomiting and back or jaw pain.
If you have any of these signs, don’t wait more than five minutes before calling for help. Call 9-1-1 and get to a hospital right away.
Well, the only real "symptom" I think would maybe be the tightness, but it's not really tightness I was experiencing. I think I may just be an odd duck. I did finally stop at our local clinic and did an EKG today and they drew blood to check thyroid, white cell count, liver and kidney functions, but all the other signs are looking perfectly normal. Blood pressure was 96/48 or close to that. Pulse and heart and lungs all sound good and the EKG looked perfect. I will just wait to see what the blood tests show and pray I'm going to keep on ticking for a very long time.
Sometimes it is easy to get so consumed with caring for our littles that it's hard to realize something might need to be done for ourselves, too. That thought is simply frightening at times. Maybe I'm speaking for others here, but I just know that is sometimes how I feel. I'm sure I am just fine. They did say sometimes dehydration can cause your heart to act like mine and that could very well be the case. I have not been drinking as much water as I should lately. Guess I am just too busy to gulp it down. So, I gotta go drink up and keep on ticking!

What a great reminder. I think those things too..is it something I ate, is it stress? I appreciate the reminder to drink water. That seems to be the answer to a lot of things! Us moms have to take care of ourselves if we are to be any worth to our families.
Take care of yourself!
