Hello Basketball!

Devan has been in the swing of basketball season for a couple of weeks now with the Arrows!! Seems strange seeing my kid in the old purple uniform I used to be so fond of! I am also an "Arrow" from former years and never thought I would see the day - BUT... it has happened. Devan is playing a few tournaments and practicing with a Watertown team. So far, so good. The travel to and from practice is hard, but we have made it work. They are a fun team to watch. This tournament was in Parker, where they played against some amazing 6th grade teams (these kids are 5th graders, so...). The experience was great and who knows what the future will hold for this team.

I did not take many pictures and this one is not even wonderful, but it is the only one I had that actually looked ok. Guess I need some sports shooting lessons OR perhaps not have two little girls with me. I stayed in the very crowded bleachers where we also almost had two broken legs. Dannika was playing in the lowest bleacher under the basket and had her legs hanging over the edge when a player fell against them. I saw her little legs bend and the screaming began. I was so afraid they were broke, but we came out of that incident very lucky. Once I knew the legs were ok, not broken, I had to focus on the crying. If she cries too much and gets upset, the coughing begins, often times followed by puking - that cf snot is thick and just makes her cough. All was well and we calmed down without puke! Yay!! The player who fell against her legs even came up to her at half time to say he was sorry and see if she was ok. What a sweet young fellow. I was very impressed with that young man. Wow!!! She is now totally fine and back to normal. One lesson learned - don't sit on the bottom bleacher with legs dangling over the edge where a player could possibly fall into you. There's one for my data base! I never would have envisioned that accident!
